MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Minnesota Utd attempted a late comeback in Vancouver last weekend, but ultimately fell 4-2 to the Vancouver Whitecaps. They were down 3-0 with just eight minutes to play when Ibson and Abu Danladi scored two minutes apart to make it 3-2. However, the Whitecaps replied just 120 seconds later to seal the win. Minnesota is still on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs as they are sitting in eighth place with 28 points, three back of sixth place Real Salt Lake. They now return home where they have won four in a row. In fact, they have the joint third-best record in the league at home with 25 points from eight wins, a draw and three losses. However, they have only outscored their visitors 23-15.

The rest of MLS needs to start taking the Seattle Sounders seriously again as they won their third game in a row and extended their unbeaten streak to four wins and two draws following their 3-1 home win over New York City last Sunday. Cristian Roldan scored in the 36th minute and Gustav Svensson doubled the lead in the 51st. New York pulled one back in the 68th minute, but Harry Shipp gave Seattle some insurance with four minutes remaining. Seattle have lost only one of their past eight league games, drawing three and winning four, and remain in tenth place in the West with 26 points. They are getting closer to a playoff spot as they trail sixth place Real Salt Lake by five points with a game in hand. Seattle is a top-ten road team with 12 points from three wins, three draws and five losses.

Seattle is starting to climb the standings with their fine form of late and they have beaten Minnesota all three times they have met in the league, outscoring them 9-2. I’m looking for a Sounders win.

SECOND PREDICTION: ODD/EVEN – ODD

64% of the Seattle Sounders’ away games and 67% of Minnesota Utd’s home matches have ended in odd scores and there is a good chance this contest will too.

HEAD TO HEAD

The sides met on April 22nd with the Seattle Sounders winning 3-1 at home. The Sounders also won 2-1 at home last year and 4-0 away for the only three MLS meetings between the clubs.
